On New Year's Eve and the following three days this year, my youngest daughter (pictured - center) helped serve visitors (巫女さん?) at a nearby shrine. The above photo was taken about 2:30 in the morning when I visited the shrine. Like most visitors to the shrine, I threw a coin into the offering box and prayed for the coming year. I usually pray for more money and good health; but this year, I just simply said, "神様、ありがとう！"
