今週の記事: Climate Change Threatens Coffee Production

This week's article on E-News is all about climate change and coffee. Scientists say that there may be many problems for coffee farms in the next 50 years. Take a look to learn more:

Here is an excerpt from the elementary level article:

Coffee is a favorite drink all over the world. In fact, 2.25 billion cups of coffee are drunk each day. Coffee gives billions of people energy for their workday, and it also supports over 120 million people in 70 countries. Unfortunately, because of climate change, areas where coffee can grow will probably be reduced by 50% by 2050according to the Climate Institute.

Hotter temperatures and changes in rain are already causing problems for coffee farms. To grow well and keep their flavor, coffee plants need specific weather and rain patterns that don't change. This means that in the future the taste and quality of coffee might be reduced. Warmer weather will also cause coffee plants to have more diseases and damaging insects.
